Coconut Crossing Palm Beach Gardens: The New Shopping and Dining Destination on Northlake Boulevard
If you’ve been driving along Northlake Boulevard in western Palm Beach Gardens, you’ve probably noticed something changing.
A major new commercial development is taking shape at the southwest corner of Northlake Boulevard and Coconut Boulevard.
It’s called Coconut Crossing, and it’s bringing a significant mix of shopping, restaurants, services and everyday conveniences to one of the fastest-growing areas of Palm Beach County.
For people living in and around Avenir, the Acreage and western Palm Beach Gardens, this is a development worth knowing about.
What Is Coconut Crossing?
Coconut Crossing is a new commercial center located at Northlake Boulevard and Coconut Boulevard in Palm Beach Gardens.
And there’s an important distinction: Coconut Crossing is not part of Avenir.
It’s located directly across Northlake Boulevard from the main entrance to Avenir, which makes its location particularly convenient for the thousands of residents moving into the surrounding area.
The development is planned for nearly 100,000 square feet of commercial space and is being developed by Konover South. The City of Palm Beach Gardens lists the project as approximately 29.59 acres and currently under construction. (Palm Beach Gardens)
Why Coconut Crossing Matters
One of the biggest changes happening in western Palm Beach Gardens is the amount of residential development happening around Northlake Boulevard.
Avenir alone is planned for thousands of homes, while additional communities and developments continue to be built throughout the surrounding area.
That creates a huge need for something that every growing community eventually needs:
Convenience.
Instead of driving several miles for groceries, coffee, a quick lunch, a haircut, dental care or other everyday services, Coconut Crossing is designed to put many of those things right here.
The developer says the center is positioned to serve more than 14,350 homes approved or under construction in the immediate trade area, in addition to the approximately 45,000 residents of The Acreage. (Konover South)
What Stores and Businesses Are Coming?
Coconut Crossing isn’t just one store.
It’s designed as a full shopping and services destination with a combination of grocery, restaurants, retail and professional services.
Some of the businesses associated with the development include:
- ALDI
- Starbucks
- Wendy’s
- Tropical Smoothie Cafe
- Marco’s Pizza
- 7-Eleven
- Fifth Third Bank
- Heartland Dental
- Mint Eco Car Wash
- Noire The Nail Bar
- Luxe & Mane
- Go Green Dry Cleaners
- Dag Men’s Barber Shop
- Honors Pilates
- Daycare
- Additional restaurants and retail businesses
The current tenant information published by Konover South includes these businesses, although leasing and tenant availability can change as the project continues to develop. (Konover South)
ALDI Is One of the Big Additions
One of the biggest draws for nearby residents will be the ALDI grocery store.
The current development plan lists ALDI at approximately 21,950 square feet, making it one of the larger tenants within the center. (Konover South)
For residents of Avenir and surrounding neighborhoods, having a grocery store this close is a major convenience.
And as western Palm Beach Gardens continues to grow, grocery and retail options become increasingly important when considering the overall convenience of a neighborhood.
Restaurants and Everyday Stops
Coconut Crossing is also bringing several quick-service and casual options.
You’ll find names such as Starbucks, Wendy’s, Tropical Smoothie Cafe and Marco’s Pizza, along with additional restaurant space.
That means this isn’t intended to be a shopping center where you only go once in a while.
It’s designed around everyday life.
Grab a coffee.
Pick up groceries.
Get lunch.
Stop for a haircut.
Take the kids to daycare.
Get your car washed.
Pick up a prescription or take care of an appointment.
All without having to make a separate trip across town.
The Location Is the Real Story
In my opinion, the biggest story about Coconut Crossing isn’t even the individual businesses.
It’s where it is.
The development sits along Northlake Boulevard at Coconut Boulevard, directly across from Avenir.
That puts it in the middle of an area experiencing significant residential growth.
The City of Palm Beach Gardens currently lists Coconut Crossing among its projects under construction, and city documents indicate the project is expected to be completed in December 2026. (Palm Beach Gardens)
As more homes are completed around this part of Palm Beach Gardens, the demand for convenient retail and services should continue to grow.
Coconut Crossing and Avenir
If you’re considering buying a home in Avenir, Coconut Crossing is something you should know about.
Avenir is creating a large residential community west of the Florida Turnpike, while Coconut Crossing is bringing additional commercial services immediately outside the community.
That combination can make the area more convenient for residents.
And this is one of the reasons I always encourage buyers relocating to Palm Beach Gardens to look beyond the house itself.
What’s around the house matters.
Where will you buy groceries?
Where will you get coffee?
Where are the restaurants?
How far is your doctor’s office?
Where will you take the kids?
What’s being built nearby?
Those are the things that can make a difference in how you actually experience a neighborhood every day.
What Coconut Crossing Means for Western Palm Beach Gardens
Western Palm Beach Gardens is changing quickly.
New homes are being built. Roads and infrastructure are expanding. Avenir Town Center is developing. New communities are coming online.
And now Coconut Crossing is adding another major piece to the area’s commercial landscape.
The developer describes the center as being positioned along a major east-west corridor with multiple access points and two traffic signals. (Konover South)
For homeowners, that’s more than just new shopping.
It’s another sign of how quickly this part of Palm Beach Gardens is developing.
My Take as a Palm Beach Gardens Realtor
If you’re considering buying a new home in Palm Beach Gardens, I think developments like Coconut Crossing are worth paying attention to.
Not because a Starbucks or ALDI automatically makes a neighborhood better—but because commercial development tells you something about where growth is happening.
When you combine the residential construction around Avenir and western Palm Beach Gardens with new retail, restaurants, services and infrastructure, you’re watching an area evolve in real time.
And that’s exactly why I recommend buyers understand what is being built around a community before they purchase.
If you’re considering Avenir, Vintage Oaks, or another new-construction community in Palm Beach Gardens, don’t just look at the house.
Look at the bigger picture.
